What Happened to Disney Channel on Sky
Upset parents took to social media after waking up to watch their favourite Disney show to find the children's channels had been removed from Sky.
The channels, including Disney Channel, Disney Jnr, and Disney XD, have also been taken off Virgin Media.
The news about the removal of the Disney channels from Sky and Virgin Media was announced in June - but it still came as a surprise to a lot of families with children left upset by the news that the channels had been closed.
Parents took to Twitter to complain after the closure has devastated kids up and down the country this morning.
Twitter user @LILBOBDOG tweeted: "Gutted, we've lost my kids favourite show @OfficialBlueyTV as the @Disney channels are no longer airing on Sky in the UK but Bluey isn't in @disneyplus, finding this out at 5am was not fun! And the kids as devastated."
Another parent @CThorpeCuevas wrote: "@disneyplus friendly feedback from my kids. Not happy about closing Disney channels! We already subscribe to the app but they still have certain pleasure in discovering series on live tv and scheduled programming. Why not make the program channels available on the plus app? Or tv?"

Mum @Welsh_Olivia posted: "My son is upset about this too, first thing he did this morning was put on the kids channels to see what was going on and told me how 'Disney has closed'.
"He left it stuck on pause then all morning stuck on the Disney logo before he went to school wouldn't let anyone turn it off."
Fiona Dowling posted: "What's happened to Disney Junior & Disney Channel? They're saying they're closed. Is it a glitch? Are they coming back? Very disappointed kids here this morning."
@littlesare1wrote: "So after @SkyHelpTeam assuring me only a month ago that Disney channels were staying on Sky (I heard they were closing) I came downstairs with my 3 yr old for mickey mouse clubhouse and guess what? Ever tried telling a 3 yr old ASD child a channel has closed?"

@xhannawoox tweeted @Disney saying: "Not really thinking of the kids were you in that decision? My daughter was absolutely crushed this morning when she couldn't watch Bluey, as she does every single morning before school."
@masha__white wrote: "Hi, I just turned on sky to find out Disney is gone. There was news about this coming, no letter no email, no warning. You do understand that there are kids with all sort of problems who have a very specific routine."
Others were angry that they would now have to pay for Disney +.
Dawn Burnley wrote: "This is outrageous, we pay extra for kids tv on sky & now Disney want us to subscribe separately for their content?"
Mum @bobster107 posted: "I'm so glad we've cancelled @skytv I had no idea the kids favourite #Disney channels would no longer available. I've got very unhappy kids because they can't watch Bluey this morning. Looks like we will defo be joining @DisneyPlusUK."
@spaceflproject tweeted: "Disney channels being removed from UK tv and Disney expecting people to pay for disney+ when some families with children might not be able to afford that for their kids is annoying."
What Disney say
A statement from Disney said: "From October 1, Disney+ will become the exclusive home for content from Disney Channel, DisneyXD and Disney Junior in the UK."
"The direct-to-consumer service, which garnered more than 54.5 million subscribers worldwide in its first seven months, will now premiere all the latest films, series and specials from the three Disney Channels, along with offering a rich and expansive back catalogue of Disney Channel titles in the UK, including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Descendants 3 and Phineas and Ferb.
"The Walt Disney Company remains committed to our kids' channels business and continues to execute distribution agreements for Disney channels in many markets where Disney+ is also available, with the goal of giving our fans multiple entry points to our storytelling."
What Sky say
A Sky spokesperson said: "We have over 5,000 episodes of on demand content alongside our brilliant linear channels, from our partners Viacom and Turner, and we're investing more in our own Sky Kids Originals too, like Moominvalley and Morph.
"Kids can watch favourites like Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol, SpongeBob Squarepants and the Amazing World of Gumball, all the wonderful LEGO content and much, much more. And it is all available in one place – together with the best apps, like Disney+ and Netflix – on Sky Q."
Sky also confirmed that there will be no discount applied to customers accounts following the removal of Disney Channels adding that Disney+ is available to Sky customers on Sky Q.
